History of DSI:

Our team's commitment to sustainable development in rural Tanzania began long before the establishment of DSI. During our time in university, we completed a data collection project in rural communities in the Bahi district of Dodoma, Tanzania to support the creation of a socioeconomic profile for the district.
The communities we spent time in were largely impoverished, shared water sources with animals, and lacked schools and health centers. Furthermore, many families did not have the resources to adequately take care of their dependents.
Getting to know these communities inspired us to start an organization that works towards addressing rural issues like these in our home country of Tanzania. Ten years later, our dream has become a reality with Development Support Initiative.

Organizational Structure:

DSI's governance structure is led by the governing body, comprised of five members with balanced gender representation. The Chief Executive Officer oversees the administration of day-to-day activities of DSI. Under the CEO, there are senior finance managers and senior program managers to support the program operations of DSI.

To strengthen governance, DSI has clearly documented personnel, procurement, and financial manuals. The financial accounts of the organisation are audited by an internal and external audit team to maintain integrity. Our main partners at present are local governments in northern Tanzania, but we look forward to engaging with local and international organizations in the near future.
